Setting sail to The Titanic Museum!

Hey guys! Welcome back to CapturedbyBarry :)

I am always thinking of local new places/scenes to capture. It can be hard to always come up with new places and discover photogenic scenery, however I had never been to the Titanic Slipways and thought this would be a cool place to take shots as the building itself is huge, really aesthetically pleasing to look at and of course one of Belfast's most famous attractions (even though it was the least seaworthy ship to sail the ocean lol).

So... this is the first glimpse of the amazing crystalline facade; as you drive up to it this is the visuals that I captured - the vibrant purple tones that bounce of the prows of the angled formed ship are just dreamy! I love the bold cut acid stained TITANIC letters too, the fact that they are transparent allows the tones to shine through making it really stand out (I believe this is supposed to reference the metal panels that were used to cover the body of the Titanic)... interesting!

This shot was taken from front of the building however standing from the side... it captures the front prow of the ship and the beautiful sunset skyline and mountains of Belfast - it was such a good time to visit the Museum as there was very little people about (due to Coronavirus - me risking my life for the pics hehe). I love catching shots when daylight is fading - it makes everything that extra bit nicer!

I love to get detailed shots and this building was designed absolutely for that! Such a good job from the London architects CivicArts who were responsible for the concept! The fine crystalline geometric profile creates an abstract surface like that of the ripples and contorts of frozen waves across an ocean - very distinctive indeed!

It is very difficult to get a close shot of the building fitting it all in - it really is humongous! After all each prow is the size of the Titanic's actual hull from waterline to deck, roughly 20m high into the sky, so yes I was on the floor at some stages sprawled trying my best to get those angles :)! You can see they have almost built a little Titanic world surrounding it with The Titanic Hotel, Titanic studios, where the Game of Thrones is filmed; there is a lot going on down here and is quite the spot!

LOL just some action shots of me getting some content !

I had such a fun time down at the Titanic Quarter taking photos - it really is amazing that we live in Belfast the city where the Titanic was born. I hope one day to take a trip inside and really get to know and understand the ship, however for now I hope you enjoyed my pics and remember catch me on my socials which can be found at the bottom of the blog!
