Canon goes global! Berlin 2019

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to capturedbyBarry, thanks for the support on my previous blog I really appreciate it... so much people responded so positively to the content (really didn't expect that) so thanks again! :)

This post is going to be on something a little different - I thought I'd mix one of my most recent travels in and of course some pictures I took along the way! Experiencing different parts of the world through the lens is something I love to do when travelling, not forgetting trying different foods and drinks along the way hehe :)

I want to talk to you and show you some of Berlin...

As you all know Berlin has a LOT of street art and practically invented it and the monuments around the city that attract tourists from all around the world with the amazing history the city holds I thought this was a perfect place to get some cool shots!

We stayed in Kreuzberg which is very hipster! Some amazing cool bars and restaurants that are very laid back and chill, I would definitely recommend here as it is very trendy and multicultural perfect for students who are backpacking or on a city break, with lots to do and see, it is also just walking distance from the East side gallery of the Berlin Wall which leads me on to...

Above is a shot I took from the East side gallery of the Berlin Wall. Instantly It stood out for me the colours and graphics were just amazing, I was so fascinated by everything going on in one photo, the artist makes it seem so alive, this is just fantastic street art in my opinion - I wish I could paint like this! As you can imagine this is a very popular part of the Wall and I'm lucky to have been able to take such a decent shot.

The most iconic art you will probably see taking on trips to Berlin is the 'Fraternal kiss' by Dmitri Vrubel. The wall painting depicts the famous kiss between soviet leader and East German president - the piece was repainted in 2009 due to vandalism! There is a slight difference in the original 1990 and the repainted 2009 murals however the message didn't change just in 2009 the picture was given a more realistic appearance - Vrubel definitely created a 'wow' factor with this striking art! Anyway, enough History for you lot! lol.

Awk, and of course I had to get a photo modelling the wall haha big up to Lucy who kindly took my camera and tried her best to work something - she did a good job though right? Again, loving the art behind me the bright colours really make this picture.

We spent most of our days literally getting up in the morning and seeing where the wind took us! Walking everywhere and just taking random pictures of cool things basically lol I think that’s what it’s really all about just exploring and going on adventures – we aren’t really the type to plan and regiment our days with schedules. Berlin is really somewhere you all need to go! It’s such a transparent city and everything goes, the nightlife is spectacular (have a look at some of the places online) there so weird and eccentric. Make sure to plan to go over the weekend as some of the best biggest clubs like Berghain etc only operate on weekends! But we still had a ball mid-week.

I don't want to bore you all to death with holiday pictures lol but I hope you have got a brief synopsis of our time in Berlin and I hope I've persuaded you all to go, its really worth the trip and I'm really fussy with places too... I know this has been more based around travel but I've tried to tie it in with my photography and I do love street art so this is the content I will be mostly posting about.

My next blog I intend on doing something a little more out of my comfort zone and in Belfast City centre - it'll be very exciting so please do check in for this!

Also I know I mentioned in my last blog but if anyone has anything they'd like me to talk about/photograph or if anyone wants photographed and we can have a little chat and I can get you on capturedbyBarry please do not be afraid to say - be really good fun!

Anyways, thanks for reading!
